The work is being carried out as part of the A1 Leeming to Barton improvement scheme.

During the closure southbound traffic will be diverted to the next junction at Catterick South. Drivers will then be routed back up the A1 northbound to the Catterick North junction where they will exit on the northbound slip road.

Traffic travelling southbound on the A1 to Brompton, Scorton, Northallerton and Catterick Garrison will be affected by this closure.

Drivers are advised to add an extra 8-10 minutes to their journey times. Members of the public travelling to the weekly Sunday markets at Catterick Racecourse, and any race meetings during the 6 week period are also advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

During the closure the existing 50mph speed limit will remain in force.
