Downing Street Christmas tree

The Prime Minister together with Blue Peter Gold Badge winners and presenter Helen Skelton formally switched on the lights.

Prime Minister David Cameron has been joined by Blue Peter Gold Badge winners to switch on the lights of this year’s Downing Street Christmas tree.

The tree was donated by members of the Christmas Tree Growers Association of Great Britain, as has been the case since 1979.

The tree took several hours to install and decorate, before the Prime Minister together with Blue Peter Gold Badge winners and presenter Helen Skelton  formally switched on the lights.
