Downing Street has named Magic Breakfast and Friends of the Elderly as its two charity partners for 2013.

Magic Breakfast provides free, healthy breakfasts to school children, boosting attendance, punctuality, concentration and behaviour.

Friends of the Elderly reaches out to older people at risk of loneliness and isolation.

Prime Minister David Cameron said:

Both Friends of the Elderly and Magic Breakfast do fantastic jobs in helping, supporting and caring for both older and younger people in our communities.

I’m delighted the Downing Street staff has chosen such worthy causes for our two partner charities for 2013. I hope we can be part of helping Friends of the Elderly and Magic Breakfast achieve their aims and make their campaigns go from strength to strength.

Downing Street staff will pledge time throughout the year to support the charities’ work.
