To help ensure a robust evidence base to support the deployment of renewable energy, in 2010 DECC published a renewable and low-carbon capacity assessment methodology (PDF, 547KB, 49 pages) . These assessments have now been completed by each region to help support local authorities and communities make the most of opportunities for renewable energy deployment in their areas. A review of approaches adopted by the regions to the methodology has been produced by the National Non-Food Crop Centre.

These assessments have now been completed and their findings published, including for the North West, Yorkshire & Humber, South East, London, South West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North East.
