Foreign Office saddened by death of former Russian Prime Minister, Yevgeny Primakov.

A Foreign Office spokesman said:

We were sad to hear of the death of former Russian Prime Minister and statesman, Yevgeny Primakov.

As Prime Minister from 1998 to 1999, Mr Primakov led a number of economic reforms which helped to restore stability in Russia. As Foreign Minister, he was respected by the international community. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
