The Guardian recently published an article that incorrectly suggested the Church of England was planning to seek £5m for a new initiative to combat radicalisation. It has since clarified that the focus of such an initiative would be to promote community cohesion, and improve relations between faiths and neighbourhoods.

A spokesperson from the Department for Communities and Local Government said:

The Church of England are developing proposals that would aim to enhance the ability of people from different religious backgrounds to come together locally to learn from each other and improve their neighbourhoods. No decisions have yet been taken on what kind of Government support may be appropriate.
