His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales met senior Indian business leaders at a symposium on corporate leadership on climate change. Rajan Bharti Mittal, Vice President and Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises, chaired the symposium. The symposium discussed what role business leadership can play in helping develop an enabling policy framework which allows the market for low carbon goods and services to flourish. Participants also discussed how the UK and India might facilitate greater low carbon investment bilaterally.

The symposium built on recent discussions by the UK-India Business Leaders Climate Group (UKIBLCG). The UKIBLCG is a business-led group actively focussed on identifying UK-India business collaboration opportunities created by the transition to a new low carbon economy in UK and India. It is due to launch a report in London on 15 November to enhance collaboration that builds on the relative strengths of the Indian and UK business communities and puts business at the heart of a prosperous climate-friendly economy. Themes include improved information exchange, facilitating investment in the new low carbon economy, effective regulatory frameworks, and encouraging R&D.
