The Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan has welcomed the report announced yesterday by Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, requesting the chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), Sir John Armitt, to draw up an action plan to share the lessons of the Olympic Park’s on-time-on budget building programme.

Companies from Wales have been successful in winning big ODA business contracts, for various Olympic design and construction projects. This report will consider the Olympic Park project as a template for delivering large-scale construction projects and share lessons of success to support British business win more lucrative contracts here and overseas.

Mrs Gillan said: “I think this report will be important for businesses across the UK, learning and sharing important experiences from the construction of Olympic sites is part of the 2012 long term economic legacy and will help create further opportunities to be developed and cultivated around the world.”
