This item has been moved to the National Archives as RAIB is now considering this incident as part of its investigation into the collision between a passenger train and an engineering trolley at Challow (Oxfordshire) which took place on 21 October 2021 and no longer intends to publish a safety digest.

At about 05:55 hrs on 8 September 2021, a passenger train travelling between Staines and London Waterloo struck an engineering trolley on approach to Twickenham station. The trolley had been left on the line following overnight engineering work. No injuries were reported.

We have undertaken a preliminary examination into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Having assessed the evidence which has been gathered to date, we have decided to publish a safety digest.

The safety digest will be made available on our website in the next few weeks.
