Traffic lights will be installed near the end of the A20, prior to the Western Heights roundabout, as part of changes to the road layout with the aim of improving better traffic flows approaching and through Dover in the future.

The work may cause some disruption over the Easter weekend, however there are no plans to close the A20 overnight on Friday 3 April. It may be necessary to work on this night if previous work is delayed.

The work will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am.

The coastbound A20 will be closed between the Roundhill tunnel and Aycliffe roundabout on:

  • Wednesday 1 April
  • Thursday 2 April

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place after the Roundhill tunnel via the A260 and B2011. The coastbound A20 will be closed overnight between the Courtwood interchange and Aycliffe roundabout on:

  • Saturday 4 April
  • Sunday 5 April
  • Monday 6 April
  • Tuesday 7 April

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from the Courtwood junction via the B2011.

The outside lane will also be closed on the Londonbound A20 on Sunday 5, Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 April.

The new layout is an assessment on traffic flows through Dover, for more information:
