Change of Her Majesty's Ambassador to Ecuador

Mr Patrick Mullee has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

He will succeed Mrs Linda Mary Cross MBE who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Mullee will take up his appointment during August 2012.

Mr Mullee joined the FCO in 1974 and has served in several Latin American countries. He is currently Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Uruguay. Mr Mullee previously worked as Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassy in Quito from 2000 to 2003.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador, Mr Mullee said:

“It is an honour to be appointed Ambassador to Ecuador. The Secretary of State has emphasised the importance of strengthening Britain’s ties with Latin America. I look forward to returning to Quito and leading the Embassy’s work at such an important time in our relations with Ecuador and Latin America. I believe there is scope to deepen our engagement with Ecuador, particularly to promote the UK’s prosperity through more trade and economic ties.”
