The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) held a networking event for science and technology providers in London on 24 June 2015.
It took place in London at techUK, 9:30am to 4pm.
Head of the Centre for Defence Enterprise, Andy Nicholson, introduced CDE and gave an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers. View the presentation slides.
The Ministry of Defence’s Chief Digital Information Officer, Mike Stone, launched a themed competition for fully funded contracts (up to £250,000 available for phase 1) on open-source big data insight. View the presentation slides.
In addition, technical experts from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) gave an overview of some areas where innovative research ideas are sought for CDE’s ongoing enduring challenge competition. Leo Borrett, Dstl Capability Adviser, talked about big data science and technology challenges within the countering terrorist networks programme at Dstl. View the presentation slides.
Bruce Hardie, CDE’s Technology Manager, also talked about how to create an effective proposal for CDE funding. View the presentation slides.
Attendees were able to pre-book a face-to-face meeting with CDE, Dstl and military experts to discuss potential proposals to either the enduring challenge competition or the ‘open-source big data insight’ themed competitions.
There were opportunities to meet other potential bidders, current Dstl suppliers, CDE, Dstl and military experts.
Presentation slides are now available via the links above.
