Highways England is spending £50,000 on the southbound M6 around junction 44 to resurface sections of lane 1 and renew road studs and road markings.

Since part of the carriageway being resurfaced runs past the entry slip road, this will have to close overnight from 8pm on Wednesday (24 June) until 6am on Thursday (25 June). Drivers seeking to join the southbound M6 at junction 44 will need to join the northbound, travel up to junction 45 and use the junction roundabout there to join the southbound carriageway.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:

This small programme of repairs will help give motorway users safer and smoother journeys.
