British Museum experts at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Argentina

On Monday 4 November, Paul Roberts and Philip Marshall spoke about the exhibition “Life and Death in Pompeii”.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government
British Museum exhibition at the British Ambassador’s Residence.

Paul Roberts, curator in the Department of Greece and Rome, and Philip Marshall, Head of the International Relations Department at the British Museum spoke about their experiences with the exhibition “Life and Death in Pompeii”.

“Life and Death in Pompeii” was the third most important exhibition in the history of the British Museum and attracted almost 500,000 visitors. The exhibition was supported by a film that shows various items and interviews with the curators and experts in Roman history. It was seen by 54,000 people in Britain and will soon be shown in 51 countries.

The film enables the British Museum to reach other audiences outside the UK in consonance with its original principle of being a collection of the British people for all men on earth. The UK experts, Roberts and Phillips, shared with colleagues from Argentine museums this and other strategies aimed at promoting exhibitions and attracting more visitors.
