On 28 April, the Ambassador’s Residence welcomed more than 400 people to celebrate the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The last time that Buenos Aires held a celebration like this was in 2009.
Before the traditional toast, the British Ambassador, John Freeman, said that “this event is also a celebration of the renewed and revitalized bilateral relationship between the Argentine and British governments. After that, the Argentine-British Community Council’s choir performed the national anthems of Argentina and the United Kingdom.
The Queen celebrates her birthday twice a year: the day of her birth, April 21st, and then the day of the official celebration that takes place on a weekend in June, and which includes the ceremony known as “Trooping the Colour”.
