British Embassy, BCCT and Central Food Retail host the Taste of Britain 2014

An event to highlight the best of British food and drink at Central Food Hall and Tops Supermarket across Thailand.

The British Embassy in Bangkok partnered with British Chamber of Commerce Thailand and Central Food Retail in hosting the Taste of Britain 2014, an event to highlight the best of British food and drink at Central Food Hall and Tops Supermarket across Thailand.

Food is GREAT, part of the UK government’s global GREAT Campaign, launched in 2011 to deliver a lasting legacy from the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, helped to showcase UK excellence in the food and drink sector at the event.

Mr. Mark Kent, British Ambassador to Thailand recently presided over Taste of Britain 2014, which more than 2,000 products from Britain, exclusively offered at Central Food Hall and Tops market nationwide until April 29, 2014. His Excellency was welcomed by Mr. Alistair Taylor, President of Central Food Retail Company Limited. The event also joined by Ms. Phattaraporn Phenpraphat, Vice President of Central Food Retail, Mr. Nick Reitmier, Vice President of Central Food Retail, Mr. Greg Watkins, Exectuvie Director of the BCCT and Mr, Simon Matthews, Chairman of the BCCT, at Central Food Hall, 7th floor Central World.

British Ambassador Mark Kent said:

At present, the UK food industry is one of our great export success stories. The food industry in the UK invests over THB 50bn a year in research and development and introduces over 6000 new products on to the world. The products you will see at the Taste of Britain 2014 are some of the best that Britain has to offer. So, I would like to invite you to take part in this opportunity to explore British food culture and share our passion and appreciation for food. Taste of Britain 2014 is a really special event for us, because it will showcase some of the newest and most innovative food products from the UK. And I am very grateful to Central Food Retail for creating the opportunity to celebrate British food and the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand for putting a considerable effort in to this event.
