The British Army held the first ever formal staff talks with their Finnish counterparts at the Army Headquarters in Mikkeli during 26-28 November 2018. These defining talks demonstrated the strong relationship between both armies and the growing commitment to future training and exercising opportunities in both Finland and the UK.

The Defence Attaché, Wing Commander Mark Taylor, expressed his gratitude to the Finnish Army for hosting this symbolic meeting in Mikkeli and for their continued support in working together to enhance our interoperability and fighting spirit.

Finland joined the UK-lead Joint Expeditionary Force earlier this Summer and these Staff Talks have enabled greater levels of co-operation between our two nations - a proud day for our strengthening defence relationship and the result of two years of hard work.
