Bournemouth man drives away with a brand new car after online win
A motorist from Bournemouth has won a brand new car worth over £10,000 after renewing his vehicle tax online.
A motorist from Bournemouth is reaping the benefits of using DVLA’s Electronic Vehicle Licensing service after winning a brand new car worth over £10,000.
Alan Edgington, aged 71, used the online service to tax his car and in the space of just four minutes he had taxed his current car, and won a brand new SEAT Ibizia 1.4 Ecomotive car into the bargain!
Mr Edgington joins over sixty other lucky motorists who have already won a car in the free prize draw run by the DVLA to encourage people to use its phone and online services to tax or SORN vehicles.
Mr Edgington, who was presented with his car at Kings SEAT, Poole on 8 June said:
I didn’t believe it at first. My wife opened the letter and screamed “Alan you’ve won a car.” I thought she was joking because things like this don’t normally happen to me. I immediately checked the DVLA website and my name was there.
The first people Mr Edgington told after finding out was his son and two daughters who were all delighted for him.
Mr Edgington added:
I’ve used the DVLA online service to tax my car a few times now and it’s definitely the option that I prefer to use. It’s not only quick and easy but it saves you time and the tax disc is delivered within days.
Winning the car will certainly make a difference to my pocket as the Ecomotive is nil tax and low emissions. My old car is going to be used far less in the future as the new car will take pride of place!

The online and telephone services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you don’t need to find your MOT or insurance documents, as DVLA automatically check them for you. The SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive was chosen for the prize draw because it met DVLA’s criteria (cars provided free of charge for a monthly prize draw, NCAP Safety Standards, low emissions, car tax bands A or B).
The prize draw initiative is part of a marketing strategy, to encourage motorist to use DVLA’s Electronic Vehicle Licensing system, which has won both National and European Business Awards.
