Tina Hamilton, the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Quito, this month visited primary school “12 de Octubre” in Las Tunas, Manabi. As part of a campaign to improve literacy, organised by the Book Bus and Tierra Viva, the embassy donated school materials and bags made of cloth, which highlighted the themes of recycling and deforestation.

The children had prepared some readings and, in return, Tina read to the children. The British Embassy has been supporting the work of British charity Book Bus in Ecuador for a number of years.
