Applying for British Passports from Belgium becomes 35% cheaper

From 7 April 2014 passport fees for all British nationals living overseas will be reduced by 35%

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Did you know that since April 2011 Her Majesty’s Passport Office has been responsible for issuing British passports to around 350,000 UK citizens who apply each year from overseas and since then they have been committed to finding new ways to deliver a better value for money service for their customers.

Gunther Debusscher, British Pro-Consul Brussels says:

“It is great news for British nationals living overseas that Her Majesty’s Passport Office is reducing the price of a British passport. This initiative is the result of the efficiency savings from returning the processing and issuing of overseas passports back to the UK. Although it is still slightly more expensive to apply for a British passport from overseas due to processing costs, Her Majesty’s Passport Office has been able to deliver significant savings straight back to the customer.”

All the information required to make an application can be found at here. Please note that the above saving relates to the cost of a British passport. Overseas customers will still continue to have to pay a courier charge in addition to the passport fee.

Please note: Neither the British Embassy nor the British Consulate-General in Brussels is able to respond to any passport enquiries.
