Anniversary Statement: Robinson R44 II, G-OCLV
Fatal accident, Shanklin Road, Isle of Wight, 25 August 2025
This statement provides an update on the ongoing AAIB investigation into an accident involving a Robinson Helicopters R44 II, G-OCLV, which occurred at Shanklin Road, Isle of Wight on 25 August 2025.
The aircraft was conducting a trial lesson when shortly after takeoff from Isle of Wight/Sandown Airfield it departed controlled flight and struck the ground close to the A3020. Three of the four occupants were fatally injured. The other occupant was seriously injured.
The investigation into the accident is nearing completion and the final report will be published in due course.
