Animal medicines improvement notice: Great Horse Products

This Notice was issued as Oil2Horse is being presented for the treatment and prevention of the equine skin diseases; Mud Fever, Sweet Itch, Mallanders, Sallanders and the relief of dermatitis caused by mites.

Oil2Horse is not authorised as a veterinary medicine in the UK for use in the treatment or prevention of these conditions.

The improvements required were for:

  1. All references to the equine skin diseases, Mud Fever, Sweet Itch, Mallanders, Sallanders and the relief of dermatitis caused by mites must be removed from all Oil2Horse marketing material. This includes any “educational” documentation presented in association with the product. Note that substitution with wording that conveys the same medicinal claims will be considered a failure to comply with this notice.

  2. Any testimonials reproduced in the promotion of Oil2Horse that make reference to the conditions listed in 1 must be removed.

If 1 and 2 cannot be achieved in the allotted time then the digital media assets containing the material must be deactivated until such time as they are compliant with the Regulations.

Written confirmation must be provided, to the Veterinary Medicines Directorate Enforcement Team, that Oil2Horse will no longer be presented for use in the treatment and prevention of the conditions listed in 1 until such time as it has been authorised as a veterinary medicine under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations.
