Advancing UK-US partnerships in Colorado

British Consul General Beverley Simpson undertook a visit to the Four Corners region in the south-west of Colorado.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Four Corners region is where the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah all converge to a single point in a desert region of the Navajo Nation.

On a visit to the mountain town of Durango, Colorado, Beverley embarked on an extensive programme which included a visit to Fort Lewis College and meetings with local leaders.

While in the area, Beverley visited BP’s methane extraction operations, toured several local companies with UK interests, and gave a presentation to the local Chamber of Commerce. She spoke with regional media to discuss the relationship between the UK and Colorado and also met with the Native American Southern Ute Tribe to better understand their economic development plans.

Overall, the trip focused on gaining a better understanding of the region; identify opportunities for UK-US collaboration, promoting the work of the British Consulate General in Denver and UK government, and advancing partnerships such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
