Overnight closures are planned along the A66 with a mix of full resurfacing and large patching schemes taking place.

The Highways England project will affect the stretch of road from Eaglescliffe Interchange where the A135 and A1027 meet, to Teesside Shopping Park. The scheme will take place in phases, to keep disruption to a minimum.

Highways England project manager Chris Corcoran said:

This project will provide smoother and safer journeys for drivers who use the stretch of the A66 near Stockton.

We’re carrying out the resurfacing work overnight when the road is at its quietest, and they’ll be clearly signed diversions in place when sections of the A66 are closed.

All of the work will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am, and is due to be completed by mid-November. Work on the westbound carriageway between Teesside Shopping Park and the Surtees bridge, which carries the A66 over the River Tees, will take place from 10pm until 6am.
