The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 5 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following closures will be in place:

  • from Monday 8 February the northbound junction 28 entry slip road, northbound Tibshelf MSA exit slip and entry slip, northbound junction 30 exit slip road, northbound junction 31 entry slip road, and northbound junction 34 entry slip road. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • from Tuesday 9 February the northbound junction 28 exit slip road, northbound Tibshelf MSA exit slip and entry slip, northbound junction 31 entry slip, and northbound junction 34 entry slip road. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • from Wednesday 10 February the M18 to southbound to M1 northbound link, northbound junction 28 up & over, the northbound junction 31 up & over, and southbound junction 35 entry slip. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • from Thursday 11 February the northbound junction 29 exit slip and entry slip road, northbound junction 31 up & over, southbound junction 35 entry slip, and northbound junction 34 up & over. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • from Friday 12 February the northbound junction 29 exit slip and entry slip, the southbound junction 35 entry slip, and northbound junction 34 up & over. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • from Saturday 13 February the southbound junction 29 exit slip and entry slip. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • on Sunday 14 February the southbound junction 29 exit slip. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

On Thursday 11 February the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction will be closed. The M1 to M6 northbound link road will also be closed. Closures will be from 9pm to 6am.

On Friday 12 February the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 will be closed. The M6 southbound will be closed from junction 1. Closures will be from 9pm to 6am.

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February the M1 northbound will be closed from junction 18. The M1 southbound will be closed from junction 20. Closures will be from 9pm to 6am on Monday 15 February.

M1 junction 19 – 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

On Wednesday 10 February the northbound between junction 16 and 18 will be closed from 10pm to 6am.

On Friday 12 February the northbound between junction 16 and 18 will be closed from 10pm to 6am.

On Tuesday 9 February the southbound between junction 18 and 16 will be closed from 10pm to 6am.

On Thursday 11 February the southbound between junction 18 and 16 will be closed from 10pm to 6am.

Diversion Routes:

M1 Junction 16 to 18 Closure

Northbound Traffic:

M1 northbound traffic will be diverted onto the A45 towards Flore at junction 16. Traffic will follow the A45 to the cross roads with the A5. Traffic will turn right at the traffic lights, following the A5 to re-join the M1 northbound at junction 18.

Southbound Traffic:

M1 southbound traffic will be diverted onto the A5 Southbound at junction 18. Traffic will follow the A5 to the cross roads with the A45 at Flore. Traffic will turn left at the traffic lights, following the A45 to re-join the M1 southbound at junction 16.

A43 Brackley, Northamptonshire: carriageway resurfacing

The southbound carriageway will be closed between Northampton Road roundabout and Buckingham Road roundabout each night from Monday 8 February to Friday 12 February between 8pm and 6am.

On Friday 12 February from 8pm to Monday 15 February 6am there will be a full weekend closure of the southbound carriageway.

Closures effective on A43 southbound only between Northampton Road Roundabout & Buckingham Road Roundabout – Both these roundabouts will still be open (Only link between will be closed).
