Responsibilities

The minister’s responsibilities include:

• children’s social care, including social work, local authority performance and family law
• children’s social care workforce
• children in care, child protection, adoption and care leavers
• special educational needs and disabilities including high needs funding
• disadvantage and social mobility
• early years and support for the home learning environment

The minister will also support the Secretary of State for Education in his role as skills lead, including on T Levels, apprenticeships and adult education.
