Responsibilities
The Minister’s responsibilities are:
- safeguarding
- rape and serious sexual offences
- violent crime and domestic abuse
- child sexual abuse and exploitation
- violence against women and girls (VAWG)
- victims
- wider modern slavery policy including the national referral mechanism, support and stakeholder engagement
- spiking
- oversight of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Current role holder
Satvir Kaur MP
Satvir Kaur was appointed jointly Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Equalities) in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Home Office on 22 July 2026.
She was previously Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office between 7 September 2025 and 22 July 2026. She was elected as the MP for Southampton Test in July 2024.
Satvir Kaur was on maternity leave from 7 September 2025 until 22 February 2026, with a phased return from January 2026.
