Detail of outcome
This consultation response covers the outcome of the consultation on PACE codes C, H, E and F.
The revised codes C, H, E and F were laid before Parliament on 21 May 2018 together with a draft order and an explanatory memorandum. The correction slips issued for codes C and H amend specified paragraph reference errors identified after the codes had been laid. Following Parliamentary approval in debates taking place on 18 and 25 June, the order will bring the code into operation 21 days after it is made. The draft order and explanatory memorandum have also been published.
Until these codes come into operation, the current codes C, H, E and F remain in force.
These draft versions of codes of practice C, H, E and F are being circulated for consultation in accordance with section 67(4) of PACE.
- code C concerns the detention, treatment and questioning of persons detained under PACE
- code H concerns persons detained under the terrorism provisions
- code E concerns the audio recording of interviews with suspects
- code F concerns the visual recording of interviews with suspects
Responses must be received no later than Wednesday 6 December 2017.
