Detail of outcome

We received 36 responses to this call for evidence. The UK fisheries policy authorities will now further consider the impact of such measures on the stocks. Decisions on the introduction of any new management measures, including any public consultations on potential measures, will take place following the conclusion of sandeel total allowable catches (TAC) setting with the EU for 2022.

We received 36 responses to this consultation. To give us time to carefully consider the responses we have delayed the publication of the summary of responses until March 2022.

Call for evidence description

Forage fish such as sandeels and Norway pout play an important role in the health of the wider marine ecosystem. They act as a food source for many commercial fish stocks and vulnerable marine species including seabirds, cetaceans and seals.

Defra and the UK fisheries administrations will use the evidence gathered to help inform future decisions about the management of these species in UK waters.
