The Secretary of state has issued an initial 3 month quota allocation for UK vessels covering Jan-March
This quota is set at UK level and has not been divided between sectoral groups (POs and the non-sector). The annual negotiations to agree fishing opportunities for 2021 are ongoing. Until these conclude we will not know the total UK quota for 2021. Following annual negotiations, the SoS determination will be updated and allocations to sectoral groups will follow. Timings are dependent on negotiations but we anticipate this will be late February/early March.
Until we have final allocations, catch limits for the non-sector pools are being set in line with ICES advice and therefore our ability to safely apply increases to catch limits is limited.
