The government is planning to establish a college of fire and rescue, as recommended in the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 report. The college will support the future capability, professional development and resilience of the fire and rescue sector in England. 

This consultation seeks views on:

  • the strategic aims that the college should seek to achieve
  • the functions it could fulfil
  • potential delivery and funding models for the college; 
  • interaction between the college and the National Framework, which sets out the government’s priorities for fire and rescue authorities
  • legislative requirements to support the establishment of the college
