Detail of outcome
Government will be taking into account the views from the consultation, which closed in October 2015 and received around 190,000 responses, together with other evidence such as research we’ve commissioned and independent reviews, to develop the proposals for the next BBC Royal Charter.
We will set out the next stage of the Charter Review - a White Paper - in Spring.
Detail of feedback received
Summary of the public and stakeholder consultation responses received by the Department.
The Royal Charter forms the constitutional basis of the BBC and its current Charter is due to expire at the end of 2016. In this consultation, we want to hear from you about how you want your BBC and its services to evolve over the next decade.
This consultation is broken down into 4 key areas:
- The BBC’s mission, purpose and values
- What the BBC does in terms of its scale and scope
- BBC funding
- BBC governance and regulation.
