Security export data is supplied to Department of Business and Trade (DBT) under contract. It’s based on sales of security equipment and services. Westlands Advisory compiled the data for the 2024 report.

The Department of Business and Trade (DBT) published the UK defence exports statistics until the 2024 release.
Following a Machinery of Government change (effective 31 July 2025), responsibility for defence exports promotion moved from DBT to the Ministry of Defence (MOD). It was agreed that MOD would take responsibility for publishing UK Defence Export Statistics.
