UK national type approval certificates
Certificates issued under national weights and measures legislation.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) publishes certificates issued under national legislation. OPSS issues certificates for the following instrument types:
- Automatic road weighbridges
- Contents gauging systems
- Cubic measures – no current certificates
- Intoxicating liquor measuring instruments for beer, cider and wine
- Intoxicating liquor measuring instruments for spirits
- Weighing instruments not using the action of gravity (for example gyroscopic NAWI) used for legal purposes – no current certificates
OPSS used to issue certificates for other instrument types concerning water or other liquids. These are no longer updated by OPSS. Accordingly, the legacy GOV.UK pages on which they were presented were unpublished. Certificates issued up to 2016 remain available for reference and as a matter of public record on the National Archives.
