The Directions are made under the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2015 (Statutory Instrument 2015 No 595).

Each Consultation Direction requires local planning authorities in England to consult the Secretary of State before the grant or refusal of planning permission for certain types of development.
