Support for Mortgage Interest statistics
Official statistics on the numbers in receipt of Support for Mortgage Interest loans.
These official statistics were published quarterly until the publication on 30 September 2025, after which they will move to a biannual (twice-yearly) publication schedule.
The statistics include the number of households who are currently in receipt of the support as well as the number who have received Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) loans so far.
The statistics are broken down by:

Changes to Support for Mortgage Interest statistics
Following the public consultation which accompanied the previous release, we can confirm the statistics will be released biannually. See the statistics release calendar for the dates of future publications.
As confirmed in our previous release, the latest release (published on 30 September 2025) is accompanied by a statistical bulletin for the first time and a median weekly average amount variable on Stat-Xplore.

Next release
Support for Mortgage Interest statistics are currently published quarterly, then the publication will be moving to a biannual release schedule from September 2025 onwards. The dates for future releases are listed in the statistics release calendar.
