On 5 March 2026 the Minister for Local Government and Homelessness, Alison McGovern, in a written ministerial statement,  announced an external review into Slough Borough Council, alongside publication of Commissioners’ seventh report and her response. This Review, led by Dame Mary Ney and supported by Will Godfrey, will assess the Council’s improvement under intervention and determine whether further support is needed to secure long-term sustainability. The review is expected to report back by May.
