Parental leave and pay review
Government review of the parental leave and pay system in Great Britain, co-led by the Department for Business and Trade and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Parental leave and pay entitlements play a key role in the plan to Make Work Pay by helping parents balance their work and home lives. The review is part of delivering the Plan for Change, linking to 2 of the government missions – to kickstart economic growth and break down barriers to opportunity.
The review will consider how the parental leave and pay system could be improved to better support working families and meet the needs of the modern economy. The government has set 4 objectives against which to assess the current set of parental leave and pay entitlements.
The details of the review, including the scope, are set out in the terms of reference. A call for evidence and summary of existing evidence are also published. The review will conclude with a roadmap.
