The Maritime Future Technologies team support the implementation and innovation of technologies in both emission reduction and autonomy in the maritime sector.

Background

Setup by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), the Maritime Future Technologies team facilitate the conversation for regulatory change, by: understanding, supporting and developing the use of these technologies in the maritime industry.

Maritime Future Technologies are a highly collaborative, dynamic and fast-paced team with different skills to those traditional in the MCA to respond to the challenges faced.

How the team is here to help:

Facilitate

The implementation of projects in the short term on a case-by-case. Acting as a focal point and connecting various stakeholder (both internal and external). Acting as the interface between innovation in industry and regulatory/policy function

Supporting

Regulatory change and including learning from individual projects within the current regulatory framework. Challenge the approach to maritime regulation.

Thought Leadership

Drive change and direction of industry through engagement and influencing (i.e. drive convergence of future propulsion technologies). Through sharing thinking rather than regulating.
