You can no longer claim interim compensation for the estate of someone who died.

The deadline for submitting a claim was 30 October 2026.

You can register your intent to claim with the Infected Blood Compensation Authority

Estates of deceased infected beneficiaries 

Applications for the £100,000 interim payments to the estates of deceased infected beneficiaries opened in October 2024. Applications for further interim payments of £210,000 opened on 23 October 2025. Applications closed on 30 October 2026.

Living infected beneficiaries or bereaved partners registered with one of the existing Infected Blood Support Schemes

The first set of interim payments (£100,000) for living infected beneficiaries began in October 2022, the second set of interim payments (£210,000) began in June 2024. 

Bereaved partners who were registered with an existing Infected Blood Support Scheme could also apply  for £100,000 in interim compensation.

Support and compensation for people impacted by the infected blood scandal

The government recognises that not all people impacted by the infected blood scandal were be eligible for interim payments. Interim payments were in place whilst the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme was established.
