This page provides guidance and forms for applying for an interim compensation payment.

Estates of deceased infected beneficiaries

If you’re representing the estate of someone who was registered with an Infected Blood Support Scheme or an Alliance House Organisation Scheme, you could be eligible to claim interim compensation payments of up to £310,000.

Applications for the £100,000 interim payments to the estates of deceased infected beneficiaries opened in October 2024. Applications for further interim payments of £210,000 opened on 23 October 2025.

Living infected beneficiaries or bereaved partners registered with one of the existing Infected Blood Support Schemes

The first set of interim payments (£100,000) for living infected beneficiaries began in October 2022, the second set of interim payments (£210,000) began in June 2024.

If you’re a bereaved partner who is eligible to register with an existing Infected Blood Support Scheme, you may be eligible for £100,000 in interim compensation. These payments began in October 2022.

The government recognises that not all people impacted by the infected blood scandal will be eligible for interim payments. Interim payments are in place whilst the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme is established.
