Note on data quality

The number of hate crimes recorded by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) was overstated in the statistical bulletins prior to the year ending March 2025 release. This issue was identified following the implementation of a new crime recording system in the MPS in February 2024. This means that MPS data for the year ending March 2025 is not comparable with data supplied in previous years. For further information, please see section 1.2 in the YE March 2025 release.
