The Ty’n Llan pub is a Grade II listed building in Llandwrog, Caernarfon. It was built in the 1860s and closed in 2017. The local community are working hard to secure its future. A Community Ownership Fund award of £250,000 is helping them keep the doors open.
Local people welcome the re-opening
Residents have responded positively to the community takeover. One member of the public suggested there has been a reinvigoration of community spirit and said:
It’s a place for people not just to come and drink but for people to come and meet. There are walking clubs, there are reading clubs and coffee mornings for the older generation. It’s somewhere to bring children to meet and play.
Another said:
Three generations of my family have lived here, and I think it’s so important that it’s here for the next generation to come.
Improvements to The Ty’n Llan
Refurbishments to the pub include a:
- community room for local societies and clubs
- new kitchen and restaurant
- contemporary bar
The community in control
The pub is now entirely owned and managed by the members and volunteers of the Ty’n Llan community.
It has been a local landmark for generations and attracted celebrities, singers and poets over the years.
Thanks to local fundraising and the Community Ownership Fund the pub now has a more secure future.
