Gainsborough town centre is set to be regenerated with £10 million from the Levelling Up Fund.

The funding will boost employment and kickstart economic growth in the town through:

  • a new four screen cinema and retail space
  • transforming the town hall into a new enterprise hub

The funds will also upgrade the town centre by:

  • improving historic shop fronts
  • creating quality residential flats

Councillor Owen Bierley, Leader of West Lindsey District Council:

The town centre has become a regeneration hub of activity … which has created an excitement around the town.

Improving Gainsborough’s green spaces

New green spaces, developed from the funding, will have positive health benefits for the residents. Improvements include:

  • new trees planted to reduce the carbon footprint
  • more green space on the Baltic Mill site
  • regeneration of the existing park

Linked walkways to the river will also improve accessibility and connectivity through the town.

West Lindsey District Council’s Director of Planning and Regeneration, Sally Grindrod Smith said:

The creation of the new parks and improved green spaces in the heart of the town will be brilliant places for our communities to enjoy and regenerating the town centre and providing appealing cycling and walking routes will mean that residents will have less need to travel out of town for work, leisure, and shopping.
