Decision not to make a reference

The CMA has decided not to make a market investigation reference. This should not be interpreted as the CMA finding no concerns in the sector and we will set out potential concerns shortly in an interim report.

Responses to Invitation to Comment

Launch of the market study

12 March 2021: The CMA has launched a market study into children’s social care provision. The study will examine the lack of availability and increasing costs in children’s social care provision, including children’s homes and fostering.

We are inviting comments by 14 April 2021 on the issues raised in the invitation to comment, including from interested parties such as care and accommodation suppliers, local authorities, looked-after and care-experienced children and their advocates, and other interested parties.
