  • if you have an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to visit the UK
  • when your ETA expires

An ETA lasts for 2 years and is linked to your passport. If your passport has expired or changed, you’ll need to apply for a new ETA.

Before you start

You cannot use this service if you recently applied for an ETA and have not received one yet. Contact UKVI if you have not had a decision after 3 working days.

If your ETA has expired, you can apply for a new ETA. 

Who needs an ETA

Not everyone needs an ETA to travel to the UK. Check if you need an ETA or visa to come to the UK.

You do not need an ETA if you already have permission to be in the UK - for example, a UK visa, indefinite leave to remain, or settled or pre-settled status.
