UK Security Consultancy

We, the undersigned, commit to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the value Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country.

The Armed Forces Covenant

An enduring covenant between the people of the United Kingdom, His Majesty’s Government and all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown and their families

The first duty of Government is the defence of the realm. Our Armed Forces fulfil that responsibility on behalf of the Government, sacrificing some civilian freedoms, facing danger and, sometimes, suffering serious injury or death as a result of their duty. Families also play a vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of our Armed Forces. In return, the whole nation has a moral obligation to the members of the Naval Service, the Army and the Royal Air Force, together with their families. They deserve our respect and support, and fair treatment.

Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.

This obligation involves the whole of society: it includes voluntary and charitable bodies, private organisations, and the actions of individuals in supporting the Armed Forces. Recognising those who have performed military duty unites the country and demonstrates the value of their contribution. This has no greater expression than in upholding this Covenant.

  • As an independent security consultancy, we are committed to supporting the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant and ensuring that members of the Armed Forces Community are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged because of their service.

  • Our commitment is particularly focused on ensuring that Armed Forces charities and organisations have access to appropriate security advice and support, regardless of their size or re-sources.

UK Security Consultancy will endeavour to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant:

  • Members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantage arising from their service when accessing public or commercial services.

  • In appropriate circumstances, special consideration may be justified, particularly for those who have given the most, including injured personnel, veterans and bereaved families.

  • The skills, experience and contribution of serving personnel, reservists and veterans should be recognised and valued.

  • Organisations within the Armed Forces Community should have fair and reasonable opportunities to access appropriate professional services and support.

UK Security Consultancy is committed to supporting organisations that provide services to serving personnel, veterans and their families. We will seek to: - Provide professional security advice and consultancy services to Armed Forces charities and organisations where appropriate.

  • Ensure that smaller charities and organisations are not automatically excluded from ac-cessing professional security expertise because of limited financial resources.

  • Consider providing pro-bono, reduced-cost or otherwise preferential security support to suitable Armed Forces charities and organisations where UKSC determines that such support is appropriate and sustainable.

  • Provide at least one existing client within the Armed Forces charitable/community sector with a free security service, as part of our commitment to giving back to the Armed Forces Community.

  • Support organisations in identifying, assessing and reducing security risks affecting their staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, premises, events and operations.

  • Assist organisations in developing proportionate approaches to protective security, risk management, emergency preparedness and security awareness.

-UKSC will always seek to ensure that any support provided is appropriate to the organisation’s circumstances and delivered within the scope of our professional competence.

  • Security should not be viewed as a service available only to organisations with significant financial resources.

  • UK Security Consultancy recognises that many Armed Forces charities operate under financial and operational constraints while supporting individuals who may themselves have experienced significant challenges. We therefore commit to:

  • Treating Armed Forces charities and organisations fairly and professionally.

  • Providing transparent information regarding our services and associated costs.

  • Considering the circumstances of charitable and Armed Forces organisations when deter-mining how our services may be delivered.

  • Exploring opportunities to provide security support where commercial arrangements would otherwise create a barrier to access.

  • Avoid creating unnecessary barriers to professional security advice and assistance. Our objective is to help ensure that the ability to protect people, premises, information and operations is not determined solely by an organisation’s ability to pay commercial consultancy rates.

  • As UK Security Consultancy develops and expands, we will seek to create opportunities for members of the Armed Forces Community.

  • Encourage applications from veterans and members of the Armed Forces Community for suitable employment opportunities.

  • Recognise transferable military skills, qualifications, leadership experience and professional knowledge.

  • UK Security Consultancy’s commitment to the Armed Forces Community is strengthened by the military service of its Founder and Executive Director, Joshua Brown. As a veteran himself, Joshua Brown understands the value of military service and the skills, experience and personal commitment that members of the Armed Forces Community bring into civilian life. This personal connection is an important part of UKSC’s commitment to ensuring that veterans and the wider Armed Forces Community are recognised, respected, and provided with meaningful opportunities wherever possible.

  • Professional: All services will be delivered to an appropriate professional standard and within our areas of competence.

Proportionate: Security measures should reflect the actual risks an organisation faces and be proportionate to those risks.

  • Independent: UKSC operates independently and will provide objective security advice based upon identified risks and professional judgement.

  • We make this commitment in recognition of the service and sacrifice made by the Armed Forces Community and in support of the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant

2.2 We will publicise these commitments through our literature and/or on our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the Service community and our customers on how we are doing.
