Landau Ltd

We, the undersigned, commit to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the value Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country.

The Armed Forces Covenant

An enduring covenant between the people of the United Kingdom, Her Majesty’s Government and all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown and their families

The first duty of Government is the defence of the realm. Our Armed Forces fulfil that responsibility on behalf of the Government, sacrificing some civilian freedoms, facing danger and, sometimes, suffering serious injury or death as a result of their duty. Families also play a vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of our Armed Forces. In return, the whole nation has a moral obligation to the members of the Naval Service, the Army and the Royal Air Force, together with their families. They deserve our respect and support, and fair treatment.

Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services. Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.

This obligation involves the whole of society: it includes voluntary and charitable bodies, private organisations, and the actions of individuals in supporting the Armed Forces. Recognising those who have performed military duty unites the country and demonstrates the value of their contribution. This has no greater expression than in upholding this Covenant.

Section 1: Principles of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant

1.1 We Landau Ltd will endeavour in our business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which are:

  • no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen;
  • and in some circumstances that special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

Section 2: Demonstrating our commitment

We also pledge the following:

  • Landau recognises the value that Serving Personnel, Reservists, Veterans, Service Leavers, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and military families bring to our organisation, our workforce and the communities we serve.

  • As a long-standing supporter of the Armed Forces community, we are committed to ensuring that our Armed Forces Covenant pledge results in meaningful action. We will uphold the principles of the Covenant through the following commitments: Promoting the Armed Forces Covenant

  • Landau will actively promote the Armed Forces Covenant and our commitment to being an Armed Forces friendly organisation through our website, social media, internal communications, events and employer networks.

  • As an employment and skills organisation, we will use our relationships with employers and partners to promote the Covenant, share our experience and encourage and support other organisations to become Armed Forces-friendly employers.

  • Landau will actively support the employment of Veterans and Service Leavers, both within our own organisation and through the employment and skills programmes we deliver.

  • Building on our experience of delivering dedicated employment support for Veterans, we will continue to support members of the Armed Forces community through our wider employment services, helping individuals recognise and articulate the valuable transferable skills gained through military service and move into sustainable employment, training and career opportunities.

  • As an employer, Landau will welcome applications from Veterans and Service Leavers and ensure that military experience, skills and qualifications are appropriately recognised within our recruitment and selection processes.

  • This is particularly well evidenced: Landau has previously supported Veterans transitioning from military to civilian life and helped individuals transfer skills gained in service into careers, training and community opportunities.

  • Landau actively supports employees who are members of the Reserve Forces and recognises the valuable skills, leadership and experience that Reserve service brings to our organisation.

  • We will provide 2 additional leave days for employees who are Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to support recognised Cadet Force commitments, including annual camps and training.

  • We will welcome applications from Service spouses and partners, recognise the skills and experience they bring to our workforce and, where appropriate, provide flexibility and support to employees before, during and following a partner’s deployment. Through our employment programmes and employer networks, we will also promote inclusive employment opportunities for Service spouses and partners.

  • Landau will continue to provide opportunities for our employees and leaders to increase their understanding of the Armed Forces community through relevant training, employer engagement events and learning opportunities.

  • This builds on substantial existing activity, including RAF Data, Digital & AI Employer Engagement, Army Exercise Executive Leader Training and Army Future Leader Training. Landau staff have also participated in first-hand learning at the Infantry Battle School in Brecon and RAF Cosford.

  • We will use these opportunities to celebrate and recognise the Armed Forces community, increase understanding amongst our staff, learners, participants and local communities, and engage with Armed Forces organisations and partners.

  • You’ve got strong evidence for this too, including Remembrance activity and fundraising for the Royal British Legion, alongside your larger VE Day community event in Wellington. Championing the Covenant with Other Employers

  • As an employment and skills organisation working with employers across our communities, Landau recognises that our commitment can extend beyond our own workforce.

  • We will actively encourage employers within our networks and supply chains to consider signing the Armed Forces Covenant and becoming Armed Forces-friendly employers. We will share our experience and learning and, where appropriate, provide practical support to organisations throughout their Covenant journey, helping employers understand the benefits, develop meaningful pledges and access relevant information and support.

  • We will continue to work with Armed Forces partners and employer networks to increase awareness and encourage greater employer participation in the Covenant. This isn’t just an aspiration. Your evidence already records Covenant insight activity and direct advocacy to your supply chain, as well as your new materials offering businesses practical support through the process.

  • Landau will continue to review and develop our Armed Forces Covenant activity to ensure our commitments remain meaningful and translate into action.

  • We will share and celebrate our activity internally and externally, continue to learn from the Armed Forces community and our partners, and seek opportunities to strengthen the support we provide to those who serve, have served and their families.

2.2 We will publicise these commitments through our website, social media channels, internal staff communications, recruitment activity, events and engagement with our employer and partner networks. We will clearly communicate the support available to members of the Armed Forces community and encourage feedback from our staff, participants, partners and the Armed Forces community to help us continually strengthen our approach. We will also use our position as an employment and skills organisation to promote the Armed Forces Covenant to employers we work with, share our experience and encourage other organisations to make their own commitment to becoming Armed Forces-friendly.

2.2 We will publicise these commitments through our literature and/or on our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the Service community and our customers on how we are doing.
