Judicial Summary

Caution should be exercised in assessing at face value the account of a person with learning difficulties. It may be appropriate to probe the evidence and seek other evidence from someone who knows them well.

The dismissal of a GP’s observations on the basis that they simply report what the GP has been told requires proper explanation: BH v SSWP [2013] UKUT 241 (AAC) cited with approval.
