Jabiru UL-450, G-BYYT

Summary:

The pilot was making an approach to Runway 22 in a light south-westerly wind. As the aircraft touched down on the grass runway, a gust of wind took it off the centreline. The pilot attempted to regain the centreline and to slow the aircraft with the brakes. The right brake proved more effective than the left, causing the aircraft to enter a skid, during which the nose gear detached and the left wingtip contacted the ground. The aircraft then departed the right side of the runway and collided with tree saplings; the pilot was uninjured.
