Summary:

The pilot misjudged a pre-flight visual inspection of the aircraft’s fuel quantity and suffered fuel exhaustion during flight. The ensuing forced landing resulted in the aircraft flipping onto its back, trapping the pilot, who only managed to escape after the intervention of a nearby member of the public.
